The Conservancy board extends a heartfelt thanks to departing board member Robert Murphy. A longtime East Side resident, Bob has been on our board since the group was founded in 2000 (as the Friends of Blackstone Park and Boulevard) and key to our development.
Bob’s dedication went beyond board meetings: he also ran many park cleanups, worked on Boulevard issues and researched history, and supported our mission in ways large and small. Just one example of his down-to-earth generosity: Bob and his wife, Kathy, unflinchingly tabulated thousands of grocery receipts in the former Eastside Marketplace’s rebate program; it was unglamorous work that truly helped the Conservancy.
For years Bob also led our sister organization Blackstone Park Improvement Association, which increasingly overlapped in mission with the Conservancy and was dissolved after several years of dormancy. It’s been a pleasure and an honor to work with him.
