Harriet Wrenn, was a long-time board member of the Blackstone Parks Conservancy and its predecessors dating back to the late 1970s. Harriet was passionate about her neighborhood, the Blackstone Park area, and its preservation. To that end, Harriet spent many hours attending, and testifying at, zoning board meetings where she believed that certain proposals adversely affected her neighborhood. She was instrumental in enhancing the credibility of the Blackstone Park Neighborhood Association as a force to resist increased traffic, parking and commercialization in and near her neighborhood. Thereafter, Harriet was instrumental in the formation of the Blackstone Parks Conservancy and commencement its ambitious program for the planting of hundreds of trees and shrubs and the installation of numerous benches on Blackstone Boulevard. Harriet’s detailed record-keeping was critical to the project’s success. Her quiet demeanor belied a sharp intellect and a passion for her work. Harriet will be fondly remembered.

Harriet Wrenn was a significant member of our first Blackstone Boulevard committee. The Conservancy owes a great deal for her early contributions. She organized our Boulevard information long before we could push a computer key for instant information and storage. Harriet was calm,efficient,organized and so very modest.
