The 2024 concert series at the Blackstone Boulevard Trolley Shelter was a tremendous success, filled with outstanding performances and vibrant community engagement.
Our lineup kicked off in June with an impressive performance by the Classical High School Jazz and Rock Band. The concerts drew an enthusiastic crowd, including many first-time attendees who quickly became regulars. It was wonderful to see a vibrant mix of community members, friends, and families coming together to enjoy the concerts, with many bringing picnic baskets and blankets to relax and immerse themselves in the music.
July sizzled with high temperatures and performances by Stone Cold Gypsies, and Wendy Klein with Robertico Arias and their Latin Jazz ensemble. A little August drizzle didn’t stop the cool sounds of Miss Wednesday and her Vintage Jazz Band while the series concluded with another dynamic show by R&B ensemble, Nickel Jukebox. Each performance left audiences eagerly anticipating next year’s events.
A special thank you goes to Officers Mike Martinous, Darren Hull and Scott Keenan of the Providence Police Department for their exceptional organization and traffic control at each concert. Their efforts in closing a portion of the southbound boulevard not only allowed for dancing in the street but ensured safe access for all attendees.
New England Lemonade was a dependable presence throughout the series, keeping the crowd refreshed on those humid summer nights.
We also want to recognize our loyal supporters, some of whom proudly wore their BPC t-shirts while continuing their generous contributions through donations and purchases at the Conservancy merchandise table.
Our heartfelt thanks go out to all our patrons and Senator Sam Zurier for their financial support, which made these concerts possible.
We can’t wait to bring another fantastic concert series to the community next summer!
